Parent Orientation

First, we would like to say how proud we are your son/daughter has chosen the University of North Florida to further his/her education! On behalf of the UNF family, we welcome your student and look forward to meeting his/her unique needs.

Orientation is an exciting and busy time as you assist your student in preparing to be an Osprey. However, Swoopapalooza is not just for students. At UNF, we feel our students' parents play a vital role in their college success.

During the orientation program you will learn about UNF and the academic and student programs your son/daughter will be involved in. This is a great opportunity for you to see the many programs that enhance student intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development. We hope it will be a fun time for you as well.

We have faculty, staff, and student leaders who welcome the opportunity to meet and discuss with you all aspects of your student’s enrollment. Please do not leave the orientation program without having your questions answered!

Many of the programs are for both the parents and students to attend together. However, there will be some activities that are just for students and some that are just for parents. For example, academic advising and course registration is a student-only activity. During the time of the student-only programs we will have a separate Parents Session.

It is MANDATORY that students attend all of the functions of the orientation program, however it is not mandatory the parents attend.

For additional information regarding our parent’s program please contact Jeanne Middleton at (904) 620-1567 or visit the Parent and Family Programs website
