Critical Steps for Timely Disbursement
Step 1: Apply Early
Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA is the first step in the financial aid process. Use it to apply for federal student financial aid, such as the Pell Grant, student loans, and college work-study. Our school code is 009841. Complete the FAFSA online.
Step 2: Accept your Award
A few weeks after you file your FAFSA, log in to your myWings account to review and accept your financial aid awards. Most grants and scholarships will be accepted for you automatically, but you must accept or decline your loans and/or work study. Private loans require application to the lender of your choice. Read the detailed instructions for Direct Loan programs and Private Loans.
Step 3: Complete All Requirements
Your financial aid will not be disbursed if you have any outstanding Financial Aid Requirements. View your Financial Aid Requirements on the Students tab of myWings. Also, learn more about Financial Aid Verification requirements.
Step 4: Complete an Entrance Interview
If you accepted or requested a loan, you will receive an email to your UNF email account directing you to the 20-30 minute online tutorial that serves to educate you on your rights and responsibilities as a loan borrower. Upon completion, print the confirmation page for your records.
Step 5: E-Sign your MPN
If you accepted or requested a Direct Stafford or PLUS loan, you will receive an email instructing you to sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN). This serves as your loan agreement contract. If you have requested a private loan you will need to sign an MPN with your chosen lender. Contact the lender or visit their website for more information.
Step 6: Direct Deposit
It's easy! Simply follow the enrollment instructions on the Cashier's Office website. It generally takes 24 hours to process your request, so your next refund will be directly deposited into your account and you will receive an email notification to that effect.
