8th Annual Summit, Friday, October 28, 2016 9am-1pm / Student Union Ballroom (Bldg. 58W / THIRD FLOOR
This year's theme focuses on ways one’s inner drive
can be channeled to create remarkable change through new ideas and action. Dr. Bremley Lyngdoh, a global leader in
environmental sustainability, will facilitate summit participants through an
engaging and interactive process as they explore ways to “raise the bar” of
performance and expectation through initiative and innovation impacting social
change. Participants will be inspired and emboldened to lead through passion
and commitment to the values that drive them to make the world a better
Dr. Bremley Lyngdoh is the founder of WorldviewImpact Foundation, a UK-based nonprofit which operates around the world with the aim of promoting
environmental sustainability as well as social and economic development through
the creation of sustainable livelihoods and the mitigation of climate
change. A true entrepreneur and global
citizen, Dr. Lyngdoh will draw upon his unique insight and experience to
emphasize the importance of young people bringing new and innovative ideas to
the table to become the next generation of leaders the world needs.
UNF’s own Maria
Mark, Coordinator of UNF’s Environmental
Leadership Program at UNF’s Environmental Center, will serve as emcee for
the day’s event. According to Maria, “it’s vitally important that our students
seize as many opportunities as possible to learn how to successfully translate
their ideas into action and become transformational leaders. The Student Leadership Summit is a wonderful
way to empower students with the tools necessary to learn how to go beyond the
conceptual to become agents of change”.
Fostering fun and opportunity, the Annual Student Leadership Summit is packed full of experiential learning opportunities for students, community leaders and volunteers. The UNF Student Leadership Summit is a flagship program of the Taylor Leadership Institute, a department within the Division of Student and International Affairs.
