What Can You Do With A Major In Mental Health Counseling?

 
Counselors help students with personal, family, educational, mental health, and career decisions and problems. They provide classroom guidance and organize programs to meet the students' developmental and special needs. Their responsibilities may vary based on the need of the individual, and on the type of organization they work for. They work with a wide variety of people, either on an individual basis or as a small group. There are a variety of settings that counselors may work at including schools and colleges, hospitals, correctional institutions, private practices, health care facilities, social agencies, and rehabilitation centers.

Beginning Salary Range:

Approximately $32,000 a year, ranging from $30,000 - $34,000 a year- (Based on information from SIGI Plus)
