Doreen Perez DNP RN-BC
Perez DNP RN-BC is Director of Student Health Services. She has worked in UNF’s
student health and medical compliance offices for over 30 years as nurse,
administrator and educator. She is a leader in program development and policy
development. As a determined advocate for students, institutions, and community
stakeholders, she is dedicated to teaching, scholarship and health service. She
has a doctorate in nursing practice and teaches in the College of Public Health
(Women’s and Personal Health). Dr. Perez is also a retired Captain in the
United States Army Nurses Corps and a past president of the American College
Health Association. She enjoys yoga, her rescue poodles and cruising with her

Lisa Dynan-Dobbertien, D.O.
Lisa A. Dynan-Dobbertien is an osteopathic physician, board certified in family practice. Lisa received her bachelors in biology from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She then attended Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (currently Midwestern University) for four years and received her doctorate in osteopathic medicine. She then completed a residency in family medicine at Chicago Osteopathic Hospital. After completion of residency, Lisa worked as an urgent care physician in Chicago’s inner city. Twenty years ago, Lisa’s husband, Mark Dobbertien, a military surgeon, was assigned to the Naval Air Station Jacksonville Hospital, and the family relocated.
Lisa spent most of the next twenty years working in public health in several counties in the Jacksonville area. She also worked in rural emergency rooms, a shipyard, and occupational outpatient clinics. In 2010 she began her career in student health at the University of Florida. Lisa has been at the University of North Florida since April 2013. She has maintained a steadfast dedication to improving the quality of care for the students.
Julie Baker-Townsend, ARNP
Julie is a Nurse Practitioner at Student Health Services at the University of North Florida. She holds a Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Florida, and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of North Florida. She is a board certified nurse practitioner in Women’s Health and Family Practice. She is an Assistant Professor in the Brooks College of Health School of Nursing. She teaches in the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs.
Mrs. Baker-Townsend is involved in the University of North Florida Nursing Alumni Association. She participates in professional organizations such as Sigma Theta Tau and Awhonn.
She enjoys family activities such as serving as leadership in her daughter’s high school marching band. She and her family enjoy traveling.
Hope Gunn, ARNP
Hope in an ARNP specializing in primary care. Hope received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Virginia Wesleyan University where she was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the National Honor Society for Nursing. Hope worked extensively in pediatrics and received her Master’s in Nursing from Florida International University in 1995.
Hope has had many years of experience in alternative and holistic medicine. She is a strong advocate for incorporating nutrition and natural remedies in treating common illnesses. She loves to educate students about the benefits of alternative approaches such as chiropractic, acupuncture and herbal remedies.
In her free time, Hope loves exercising, reading and volunteering with her church. She also loves taking care of and cooking for her two busy and hungry teenagers.
Trish Flipse, ARNP
Trish received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of North Florida in 2002. She worked in the field of cardiology for most of her nursing career with an emphasis in the field of Electrophysiology. After travel nursing, she returned home to Jacksonville Beach, Florida in 2005. She earned her Masters of Science in Nursing and is a board certified Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner specializing in Family Practice.
Amy Howell, ARNP
Amy is an Advance Registered Nurse Practitioner specializing in Women's Health. She is a graduate of UNF's Nursing Program, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and she also holds a Masters in Nursing from the University of Florida. She has a varied background including Transplant, Dermatology and Research. Amy is returning to advanced practice after several years spent as a stay at home mom and is looking forward to working together with students to help them stay healthy.
Her free time is spent at the baseball fields and the pool supporting her children's athletics, as well as reading, cooking and Zumba!
Lillia Loriz, ARNP
Dr Loriz completed her BSN at Georgetown University. She completed her MSN as a Nurse practitioner at Marymount University in Virginia while working as a nurse at George Washington University and her PhD in Nursing Administration at George Mason University, while working full-time as a nurse in clinical trials. She has been at UNF since 1996 and has been the Director for the School of Nursing for 12 years. Dr Loriz maintains a clinical practice at the University as a Nurse Practitioner at Student Health. She has a passion for nursing and for facilitating the learning of future nurses.
In her spare time she is an avid cave diver and spelunker.
Lauren McAlister, ARNP
Lauren is an ANCC board certified family nurse practitioner. She graduated from the University of North Florida with honors in both undergraduate and graduate nursing. She is currently pursuing a PhD in nursing at the University of Florida studying Autism in the pediatric population.
In her free time she loves to be with her husband and two children, 6 and 3. They enjoy going to church, running and the beach. Most of all they love going to the Florida Keys and dolphin fishing and catching "bugs", also known as lobster.
Pat Richards, ARNP
Patricia is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) specializing in family practice and primary care. She is board certified in her specialty by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Pat obtained her basic nursing education at St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing in Jacksonville Florida. She obtained her BSN at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, as well as a certificate as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner from UVA, and her MSN from the University of Phoenix. She also holds an M.Ed in adult education from the University of Florida. She has been a nurse practitioner since 1976. Pat has been inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, and also holds membership in the Florida Nurses Association and the NE Florida Association of Nurse Practitioners, where she has held many leadership positions. She currently works full time for the University of North Florida, dividing her time between the Student Health Clinic as an ARNP and the Brooks College of Health as an instructor, primarily in the graduate nursing program.
Mrs. Richards enjoys working with young adults and assisting them in managing their health problems as well as learning healthy lifestyle practices. She has been a member of Student Health since 2013. She is a BLS and ACLS instructor and actively teaches these courses to students, staff and the community.
Pat lives in St. Augustine and enjoys the quiet beach life there with her husband and their Golden Doodle. She enjoys family time with their 5 children and grandchild. She likes to cook, sew, read, and spend time on the water.
