Student Testimonial

"In Summer (2011), I took the TEFL course at UNF. I actually took it without any intention of going abroad. Although I was prepared, I was terrified to actually move abroad. This would be the first time that I would be away from my family and friends for more than 4 months. Then, things changed with my career plans with my long-term job that I'd invested so much time in. I didn't feel fulfilled there anymore. It was at this fork in the road that I decided to apply for a position abroad. I found one in Spain. Spain has always been one of my dream locations! I asked Ruth (director) and Kay (instructor) for letters of recommendation, and they were perfect. I am forever grateful for their kind words. They helped me completely realize that I was ready to go. Once I got an acceptance into my school, I was hesitant about telling anyone. I was nervous that something was going to go wrong. Getting my visa was a struggle, and my plane ticket was ridiculously expensive. At certain points, I didn't think I'd make it to Spain. It was't until my first week of teaching did I feel confident in my decision to move here. Thank you so much University of North Florida team for the tools and confidence you have given me to teach abroad! I am loving my new life in Malaga, Spain, and I couldn't ask for a better school to be placed in. I suggest anyone looking for a great TEFL course take it at UNF! The team is quite experienced in teaching abroad. They make you feel well-equipped for the field. I loved how hands-on my classes were which makes it easier to implement the things I learned into my classroom now."
