Allocating Assistantships

Funding for stipends for graduate assistants is received by the individual colleges as part of their annual budget request and subsequent allocation. Individual college deans allocate shares of those resources to individual departments as well as determine how those resources may be distributed to students.

Academic Affairs and the Graduate School jointly allocate to individual colleges tuition/matriculation waiver authority, authority allocated by the SUS to individual universities permitting a certain percentage of tuition collection that may be waived. Individual college deans allocate shares of those resources to individual departments as well as  determining how those resources may be distributed to students.

For authority to waive out-of-state tuition for non-resident Graduate Assistants, please see Chapter 7.2 "Types of Financial Aid" and scroll down to "Out-of-State Tuition Waivers."
