Chapter 1: Getting Started

Accessing MyWings

UNF's web portal is your online student services tool wherein you can easily handle the business of being a student. MyWings allows you to register for courses, check your financial aid award, view your degree audit, see your grades, and much more. To use the portal you must go to http://mywings.unf.edu. Start by selecting the link just below the login boxes that says "Login Help" and follow the instructions to set your password.  You will need to have your student identification number (N#) handy.

Activating Ospreys Email Account

All UNF students have email accounts automatically generated for them at the point of application.  Your professors and department, Financial Aid, the Graduate School, and other important campus entities will use the Osprey Email account for all official university communications.  You are responsible for reading and acting upon all emails in a timely manner.  It is strongly recommend that you have your email accounts redirected or converted accordingly.  For more information, click here.

Admitted Graduate Student Orientation

All admitted graduate students are encouraged to review the online Graduate Student Orientation, available here.

Completing your Application Requirements

Some graduate students are admitted pending the receipt of final or official transcripts or test score reports.  Avoid hassles later and take a few moments to log into your myWings account to verify that all official and final documents have been received.  Failure to submit all documents will place a registration hold on your account which will not be removed until the missing item is submitted to the Graduate School.

Obtaining ID Cards

All UNF students should obtain an Osprey 1Card which is the official identification card of all UNF students, faculty and staff.  The card is required for essential campus services, such as library access and utilizing Ozzie Bucks- a convenient account for making purchases on and off campus.  The Osprey 1Card also allows free access at many campus events, such as UNF athletics, guest lecturers, and concerts.  The card can only be obtained in building 8, room 1100.  For more information, click here.

Obtaining Keys

Some graduate students will need access to labs and/or equipment rooms.  Consult with your advisor to obtain a list of rooms to which access is needed.  The departmental secretary can then assist you in obtaining a key request form (available online through myWings on the Staff tab).  Keys are available at the UNF Lock Shop (Bldg. 6).  Please remember that having access to a room means carries a high level of responsibility for the content of that room and any activity taking place there.

Parking Permits

Parking is not free at UNF though it remains convenient by comparison to other universities.  Anybody parking on campus must display a valid parking permit.  Your options range between daily to annual in variously priced lots.  Keep in mind that ticketing agents are abundant and quick to act.  Additional information regarding parking on campus can be found by clicking here.
