Clicker Set Up- Turning Technologies  

To use clickers in a course, please complete the steps below, You may contact CIRT with any questions; we will guide you through the adoption, training, and course setup process.Turning Technologies offers both a hardware and virtual solution.  Instructors may allow only response pads in their classes, or may choose to allow ResponseWare. ResponseWare allows students with a web-enabled device such as a laptop, smartphone, or tablet to respond to TurningPoint questions. Be sure to include information in your syllabus about what you will allow for  your class.

  1. Complete adoption form in myWings 
    Go to Faculty Self-Service > Clicker Requests
    Do this for all classes in which you will use clickers.
  2. Include the student clicker in your textbook order to the bookstore.
    (ISBN: 978-1-934931-49-3).
  3. Decide whether to allow the use of ResponseWare in your course.
    **ResponseWare allows students the option of using a mobile device or web browser instead of the clicker hardware, but requires extra steps on the part of the instructor, both initially, and for each class period.
  4. Include clicker information in your course syllabus. Some sample language is available below. Be sure to specify whether you will allow the use of ResponseWare.
  5. Request your Blackboard course(s).If you teach multiple sections, it is useful at this point to give each section a unique name, ie Intro to Physics, Tu/Thur. You will need a separate Blackboard course for each section you teach. If you are interested in using combined sections in Bb, please first consult with CIRT staff to understand the implications for the Turning software.
  6. Turn on the Turning Technologies Registration tool in your Blackboard course so that students can register their clickers. Directions here: https://unfbb.bloomfire.com/posts/838932 
  7. Contact CIRT with questions and to learn about training opportunities.

Other useful information: Students can purchase clickers from the bookstore; the cost is $53.50. Turning Technologies also provides an online store. UNF's school code is for clicker purchase is uNF2. A $15 rebate is available to UNF students on the purchase of all new NXT clickers during the 2014-2015 academic year. The rebate form is available here.

The cost for Responseware varies from $10- $40, depending on the length of the license. Students must register each semester in Blackboard.
