The resources of the Special Collections section of the Thomas G. Carpenter Library include University Archives, Rare Materials, and the Personal Papers and primary source materials of prominent individuals and organizations. Special Collections is located on the first floor of the Library in room 1301.
The Archives collection is the repository of significant university publications and records that document its history and activities. Materials relating to the history of the University from its beginnings in 1969-70 to the present are preserved and maintained. The collection includes catalogs, schedules, correspondence, handbooks, newspapers, reports, photos, memoranda, and other materials pertaining to the operations and functions of the University or its faculty, staff, and students.
The collection contains high cost items and older imprints, limited / signed editions, rare books on special subjects, books by local authors, and other significant local history materials.
Our resources include personal papers and primary source materials of prominent individuals and organizations. Major holdings include the papers of Eartha M. M. White, John E. Mathews, Jr., and Arthur N. Sollee, Sr.
Over two hundred titles from Special Collections have been digitized and are accessible via the UNF Digital Commons institutional repository, and the Florida Heritage Collection, an ongoing cooperative digital project of the public universities of Florida. This online collection provides web access to rare and unique materials representing Florida's history, culture, arts, literature, and sciences. Our digitized items include significant resources from our local history, University Archives, and Personal Papers collections.
