October 31, 1995 Dedication:
Speech by UNF President Dr. Adam Herbert
January 2011-present Construction of new Student Wellness and Sports Education Center

In 1995, the Osprey Fitness Center was renamed to honor Mrs. Dorion who contributed $100,000 to renovate the facility which is located adjacent to the Aquatic Center / Arena plaza, and across from the Student Union.

Mrs. Dorion is an active supporter of UNF academic and athletic programs. She is a founder and the first woman President of the Osprey Club, former member of the UNF Foundation Board of Trustees and the College of Health Advisory Board, a sports enthusiast and world-class athlete, and a UNF benefactor.

In addition, for her prodigious volunteer service in the Jacksonville community, she was awarded the EVE award in 2001. The 2003 Mayor's Commission on the Status of Women selected Mrs. Dorion as one of three honorees to receive their highest annual award. Women are selected for their contributions of lasting value to the community and are featured on the Women's History Month poster each March which is displayed throughout the city.

Planning began in 2010 for the first phase of a Student Wellness and Sports Education Center designed to replace and rebuild the Dorion Fitness Center in the new Student Wellness building. Phase one will include an exercise room, mind-body studio, spinning studio, locker rooms, a 45-foot-tall climbing wall, 15,000-square-foot exercise equipment area, a 1/8-mile jogging track and the offices of the Campus Recreation and Health Promotions staffs.

Construction began in January 2011, and is scheduled for completion in Spring 2012.The Dorion Center's fitness equipment was temporarily relocated to the Arena so UNF would continue to have a fitness center uninterrupted during construction.
