As a member of the Public
Services team, this library faculty position participates in the planning, coordination,
delivery and assessment of the Library’s marketing plan. Maintains an
understanding of the role of library promotion or marketing and demonstrates
knowledge of best practices and current trends in all areas related to
promotion, information literacy, and library research. Participates in the
promotion of library activities, communications development and graphic designs
that enhance the image and visibility of the Library by the effective utilization
of communication, public relations, and marketing skills. Applies skills in conducting
research interviews and recommends sources to effectively assist library users
in their research needs. Assists other members of the library staff in understanding
the use of new library promotional materials. Works under the general supervision of the
Director of Public Services.
Participates in the library’s marketing and outreach programs.
Collaborates with the Communications
Committee in marketing the library by developing a marketing plan with emphasis
on current best practices. Uses
communication and design skills to prepare marketing materials. Demonstrates
skill in use of social media applications as well as traditional outlets. Documents the activities, effectiveness and
needs of the library promotional activities through statistical analysis,
formal reports, and presentations.

outreach activities to other campus departments and constituencies; seeks ways
to enhance library presence in the Freshman Experience and other student
programs; establishes priorities and coordinates efforts in collaboration with

user education efforts focusing on information literacy, distance learning
needs, library support for curriculum needs, and advanced instruction and

information needs, identifying appropriate resources, and providing training
and assistance in their use. Participates in providing individualized
research consultation sessions. Trains library staff about new marketing tools.
Serves as library liaison for assigned academic
department(s). In collaboration with teaching faculty, develops
select areas of the library’s subject resources by identifying and selecting
new materials and by evaluating existing materials for possible withdrawal from
the collection. Proactively engages with
departmental faculty to understand their library needs, develop collegial
partnerships, and promote library services.

Other Job Accountabilities:
1. Participates in the planning and policy-making bodies
of the Library and University.
2. Serves on other Library, University, and statewide

developments in library and information science. Participates in training and professional
development activities as appropriate.
Required: ALA-accredited master's of library science
degree or equivalent; experience with image editing software, desktop
publishing, and open source content management systems.
Preferred: Academic library work experience;
communication and design skills; promotional experience using social media applications;
experience with HTML and CSS; project management skills; and ability to work as
a team member as well as independently.
