New Exhibit in Special Collections 2012-06-11 "Two Jacksonville Legends: James Weldon Johnson & Eartha M. M. White," features rare materials from Special Collections relating to White and Johnson. Eartha White was a contemporary and friend of a wide range of prominent artists, authors, social welfare activists, and political leaders. The exhibit features correspondence from Johnson regarding his friend Eartha White, a photograph of his brother, John Rosamund Johnson, and letters from Grace Nail Johnson, widow of James Weldon Johnson. Copies of his notable works, The Autobiography of an Ex-Coloured Man, God's Trombones, and Along This Way, are also on display. The exhibit is open in the Special Collections Reading Room (first floor) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday through July 31, 2012.
