The large exhibit case just outside Special Collections on the 1st floor of the Library features materials related to the discovery and exploration of Florida and North America. April 2013 is the 500th anniversary of Juan Ponce de Leon's "accidental" discovery of Florida while in search of the "Islands of Benimy."

Exhibit: Library Resources in Communication
Historic Architectural Photography by Lance Taylor - February 16, 2 p.m.
Lance Taylor, a UNF staff employee and avocational
photographer, will talk about his interest in the photography of historic
architecture. Taylor, a UNF alumnus (BA 1974, MBA 1986), recently donated to
the Library over 7,000 of his photographic images of historical sites in the
United States, predominately in Florida and
neighboring states. The presentation is part of the current Library exhibit, “Jacksonville
Architecture: In Print and Photography.” This event will take place in the
Special Collections Reading Room, Thomas G. Carpenter Library, Building 12,
first floor on February 16 at 2 p.m. Free and open to the public.
