UNF Student Permits

Welcome to campus Ospreys! Parking Permits are a must have when you park your vehicle here.

Buy your permit as soon as permits go on sale and you have registered for classes. Permit sale dates can be viewed through Osprey Update for Students, MyWings and Permits and Rates from Parking and Transportation Services web page. Permits are sold on a "first come, first served" basis, because some of the more desirable permits have set sales limits and will sell out. Discount Permits are always available.

Please be aware that more permits are sold than the number of parking spaces since students do not come to campus every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fortunately, varying class schedules allow more spaces to be available, but some of the spaces may not be at your favorite lot or garage.

Students with 90+ credit hours, sale starts July 15, 2013

                       60+ credit hours, starts July 22, 2013

                       20+ credit hours, starts July 29, 2013

                       Sales are open to all students on August 5, 2013

Returning Housing students may purchase a permit on July 18, 2013.

New Housing students may purchase on July 25, 2013.

Permit Details

What are the hours of permit enforcement?

Enforcement activity is Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. No permit is required from 5 p.m. Friday through 7 a.m. Monday unless there is a special event on campus. To verify special events, Master Calendar.

If visiting the University Center for a special event or class, no permit is required to park in Lot 16 (located in front of the center).
When does my Annual or Term permit expire?

An annual permit year includes August 16 till August 15 of the following year. For example, the 2012-2013 permit year began on August 16, 2012 and will expire August 15, 2013. Unlike a Term permit, which may last from five to six months. For example, the 2013 Spring term permit went on sale December 5, 2012 and expires May 15, 2013.
How do I purchase a permit?

You may do so through your online MyWings account or through Purchase Permits tab on the Parking and Transportation Services web page. It may take 7 - 14 business days prior to receiving the decal in the mail. During that time, you will need to print the temporary pass provided at the end of the online transaction.
How may I pay for the permit?

You must pay online with a MasterCard, VISA, American Express or Discover credit card. The Cashier's office no longer sells permits.

You will not be able to use your Financial Aid as a permit payment. Instead, you will need to take the funds from your account by using one of the above listed credit cards.
What if my temporary permit expires before I receive my decal sticker in the mail?

Visit Parking & Transportation Services in Building 52. We will provide you with another temporary permit.

If you have not received your decal after 21 business days from the online order date, please visit us and we will assist you in obtaining one.
Students to receive exterior mounted stickers only

This was initially a recommendation by the University Police Department as a method to reduce permit theft and was supported by the Student Affairs Division and Student Government leadership. Beyond the desire to reduce permit theft, the Judicial Branch of Student Government noted that they receive a number of appeals each year from students who have received a parking ticket because they forgot to hang their permit when parking on the UNF campus, an error that would be eliminated with a fixed decal permit. The intent was presented to the Parking Advisory Council (the Council is comprised of students, faculty and staff) and while it was recognized that hang-tags offered some benefits not available with decals, the Council was in general agreement to move to a fixed decal.
What if I drive more than one vehicle?

After you have purchased your primary permit online, please visit Parking and Transportation Services in Building 52, to obtain additional permits. Offered additional permits include the Lot 14/18/53 ONLY or Motorcycle categories.
How is the permit supposed to be displayed on the vehicle?

For an affixed style permit to be valid for parking at UNF, it must be displayed unaltered and it must be permanently affixed using the permit's adhesive properties to the exterior glass of the vehicle. It is recommended to adhere the sticker on the exterior of the driver's side rear window or on the driver's side rear bumper so that is clearly visible to the parking patrollers. Using any type of tape other than the permit's adhesive will result in a citation.

For unusually constructed vehicles, please contact the Parking and Transportation Services (904) 620-2815 for any exceptions to this required permit placement. Please note that the permit must be clearly visible when the vehicle is parked on campus. Parking with the rear bumper up against a wall in a garage such that a permit affixed to the rear bumper cannot be seen or having a tool box in a pick-up obscuring the view of a permit affixed to the rear window are examples of offenses that will result in parking citations.
How do I remove a prior UNF affixed permit decal?

To remove the permit first apply heat to it with hot water, then use a plastic scraper or an edge of a plastic card to lift one of the permit corners. Slowly pull off the remaining decal. If requesting for a replacement, return the decal or pieces of it to Parking & Transportation Services at Bldg. 52. In order to avoid possible vehicle damage please refrain from using a razor blade. If you have an issue removing the permit, please visit us at Bldg. 52.
Which permit allows me to park in specific areas?

What if I only come to campus once or twice a week?

You may still purchase an annual or term permit, but if you do not want to, you must purchase a $3 Daily Permit from the Parking Permit Dispensers located within Lots 18 and 53. The daily permits from the dispensers will only allow you to park in those particular lots.
What permit is the best value?

Permits for Lots 14, 18 and 53. Out of the these lots, Lot 14 is the only lot that the Osprey Connector does not service.
Which lots guarantee parking spaces and cause less of a hassel to deal with?

Lot 18 and 53. To access these lots, feel free to click on Directions to Lot 18 and 53. It takes less time to find a space within Lot 18 or 53 and ride the Osprey Connector Shuttle to the center of campus rather than circling the inner lots and garages where parking is congested. What are considered the peak times of parking congestion?

Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and all day Tuesday and Thursday. If possible, schedule your classes away from these times.
What do I do if my permit is stolen?

Bring a copy of the police report to Parking and Transportation Services, Building 52 and a new permit (of the same purchased category) will be distributed to you.
What if my vehicle is in the shop? What if the windshield gets broken?

If your four-wheeled vehicle is in the shop and you are driving a four-wheeled loaner, visit Parking & Transportation Services, Building 52 to obtain a temporary permit valid for seven days. The temporary issued permit will be of the same permit category of the original purchased permit. Should the vehicle require maintenance longer than seven days, please bring in a note from the repair shop. If the windshield with the affixed permit is broken or if you sell your vehicle, bring the permit or pieces of it to Parking & Transportation Services, Building 52 to obtain the same category replacement parking permit for free. If your primary vehicle is a two-wheeled motorcycle and it is damaged in an accident, should you choose to drive a four-wheeled vehicle as your primary vehicle going forward, you must pay in full for the new permit.
Are temporary motorcycle permits issued?

Yes; when a person who owns a valid UNF parking permit arrives on a two-wheeled motorized vehicle, a one-day temporary parking permit can be issued for parking in any motorcycle spaces on campus. The temporary parking permit will be marked by Parking Services as being valid for a motorcycle and motorcycle parking spaces only.

The individual of the two-wheeled vehicle is responsible for the display of the temporary parking permit as they deem appropriate as long as it is completely visible to a person standing next to the vehicle. If the valid UNF parking permit is not displayed it will be cited for being in violation. The citation is registered to the license tag owner and they must either pay or appeal the citation.
What if you have sustained an injury, such as a twisted ankle or broken leg, can you receive additional assistance?

Yes, you may obtain a temporary mobility impairment permit from Parking & Transportation Services (Building 52) for a maximum of 30 days. The treating physician must request this service in written format. Another option, you can call (904-620-2370) ahead to schedule a pick up time and place from our exclusive shuttle designed for riders with mobility needs.

Loading Zone Spaces

There are Loading Zone spaces throughout campus that allow for timed parking with a UNF permit. These vary in time allowed, depending on their location. Most are 20 minute zones; just make sure to pay attention to the signs indicating these spaces.
Visitor Passes

If you have a visitor coming to campus, inform them to purchase a $3 Premium Daily Permit from one of the parking information booths located at the I-295 (9A) and Kernan Boulevard. campus entrances. Assigned and restricted parking areas will be listed on the permit. No visitor permit is required on weekends, unless there is a special event occurring; which can be verified on Master Calendar. Multiple-consecutive-day permits are also available at Parking & Transportation Services, Building 52.

Citations

How can I avoid getting a citation?

Do not park on the grass or in a space that is specially marked outside of the allowable spaces from the permit you have purchased. Please review information listed on permit types and parking spaces allowed, Permits and Rates. Each ramp parking space has a visual white line at the back end and vehicles or items attached to vehicles cannot extend over this line when parked in these spaces. Citations will be issued to vehicles not parked within the identifiable space boundaries. Also, follow the approved guideline for properly displaying the permit, Permits and Rates.
I have received a citation, now what?

You may pay your citation, through an online link Pay Citations, or you may pay in person at Building 52 (Parking & Transportation Services). Another option includes filing an appeal within 14 calendar days of citation being issued. To file an appeal, you will need to fill out the appeal form and it will be reviewed by an appeal committee. Appeal forms are available at Building 52 or online through link Ticket Appeals.

***14 calendar day example: If you get a ticket on a Tuesday, 14 calendar days is the second Monday, not the second Tuesday. Don’t get caught being a day late with your payment.***
What are the consequences of not paying a citation?

If a citation is not paid within 14 calendar days, a $10 late fee will be added to the citation amount. A hold will also be placed on your record, which will inhibit you from registering for classes, being able to graduate, or requesting transcripts to be sent to a prospective employer or to apply for grad school or transfer to a school in another location. Once you pay the fine, please be aware that it may take 4 - 24 hours for the record hold to be released.

Don't get the boot!

How can you get a boot on your vehicle?

Three or more late and unpaid citations will result in receiving a boot. If you have received eight or more citations in a period of 365 days or display a stolen, altered or lost permit a boot will be applied to the vehicle. Other violations include parking in a service area, fire lane, Lot 7, a Reserved space, a disability space or if you obstruct traffic and create a safety hazard.
How do I get this off my vehicle?

Immediately call Parking & Transportation Services at (904) 620-2815. To avoid vehicle damage, please do not attempt to remove the boot yourself or drive the vehicle with it on.
