Parking & Transportation Services has developed a list of tips to help manage some of your parking issues.
Allow more time or plan to park in the outer lots during peak times: Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and all day Tuesday and Thursday.
It takes less time to find a space in Lot 18 or 53 and ride the Shuttle to the center of campus than circling the inner lots and garages where parking is congested. Try parking in Lot 18 or 53, and save time.
Lot 18 is accessible from either St. Johns Bluff or Beach Boulevard via Central Parkway. Lot 18 is north of Eco Road from UNF Drive.
If you get a ticket Tuesday, 14 calendar days is the second Monday, not the second Tuesday. Don’t get caught being a day late with your payment.
If your parking permit is stolen, you can get a new one by filing a police report at the University Police Department (Building 41), bring the copy to Parking & Transportation Services (Building 52) and pay an administrative fee of $5.
Temporary disability parking permits can be issued from Parking & Transportation Services for a maximum of 30 days. The treating physician must request this service in written format.
If your primary car is in the shop, you can get a temporary permit for your second car or loaner from Parking & Transportation Services.
If your windshield with the affixed permit gets broken (or if you sell your car), bring the permit or the pieces of it to Parking & Transportation Services and get the same category replacement parking permit for free.
Parking permits are sold on a "first come, first served" basis. Buy your permit as soon as permits go on sale. Don’t wait, because some of the more desirable permits have set sales limits and will sell out.
If possible, schedule your classes away from the peak times: Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and all day on Tuesday and Thursday.
If you are desiring to use Financial Aid to cover the cost of your parking permit, you will need to complete a "Financial Aid Authorization Form", located on your MyWings in the Student Tab under the heading "My UNF Bill". Read the statement and select the Authorization button to complete the form. Proceed to purchase a permit, follow the steps to purchasing your permit and you will come upon a drop down menu for the selecting your payment method. Select the option: Add to myWings Account and the permit fee will appear on your myWings Student Account 24 hours after the online purchase is completed. Any excess financial aid will apply to this fee.
Save some $$. If you are a commuter student, Gray Lot permits are less expensive than the other permit categories.
Make sure that your parking permit is adhered to the exterior glass of the vehicle. It is recommended to affix the sticker on the exterior of the driver's side rear window or on the driver's side rear bumper so that it is completely visible from the outside.
You now have the option of purchasing a second parking permit of a lesser category than your first permit, for your second vehicle. All second permit sales are completed over the counter at Parking and Transportation Services (Building 52).
The preferred payment method is by using the 24-payment payroll deduction. This is pre-taxed and allows for any changes to the account, such as upgrades and permit returns, to be much easier.
Faculty/Staff permit allows the priority to all Faculty/Staff spaces, located on the first floor of the garages and other premium spaces that are marked with orange wheel stops. This permit is sold as an annual permit only.
If you are a 9-month faculty or staff employee using the 24-payment plan for your parking permit, be sure to turn it in at the end of the year and stop your payments.
A parking permit is not required Saturdays or Sundays unless there is a special event on campus. Special event signs will be highly visible when entering campus and will inform you if payment is required.
Even if you bought a ticket to the Fine Arts Center or for an Athletics event, you still need to purchase a $5 Daily Permit from the Information Booths (first building on the right when entering I-295 or Kernan Boulevard campus entrance), Monday through Thursday 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
If you are just dropping off a child at one of the camp (up to 30 minutes before the start of camp) designated drop off locations or picking up (up to one hour after the camp is finished) at the designated location, you don’t need to purchase a Daily Permit. Please contact the camp administration for more information about the drop off and pickup locations. If you are going to leave your vehicle and will be gone outside of the times noted above, then you will need to purchase a $5 Daily Permit from the Information Booths Monday through Friday.
Visitors to campus must abide by the UNF rules and regulations or risk getting a citation. If you receive a parking citation, you have the option to make payment (must be paid within 14 calendar days to avoid receiving an additional $10 late fee) or you may appeal the citation by submitting on line by going to the link, Ticket Appeals.
