The tournament is a fundraiser for the First Generation scholarship fund, which provides need-based scholarships for students who are the first in their families to attend college. The First Generation scholarship program is now in its ninth year. Since its inception, 2,863 UNF students have been a part of this scholarship opportunity, receiving more than $5.8 million to achieve their dreams.

Brianna Sigman, First Generation scholar "Not everyone gets the chance to make the most out of their college experience. Many, many students work full-time in order to cover the high expense of academics.

Help from the First Generation scholarship really is the reason that I was able to make my last four years at UNF the best years of my life thus far. This scholarship helped to significantly ease my financial burden, which in turn allowed me to join multiple organizations, take on numerous leadership positions, volunteer in the community and truly experience an incredible four years at UNF that I will cherish the rest of my life. Please know that sponsoring this scholarship isn't just adding money to a pot — it's investing in individuals like me who promise to give it back by pouring service, commitment and passion into the UNF and greater Jacksonville community."

— Brianna Sigman, First Generation scholarship recipient
