Location: UNF Alumni Hall

For June, the UNF Alumni Book Club will be reading "The Great Gatsby" by the American author F. Scott Fitzgerald.
First published on April 10, 1925, it is set in Long Island's North Shore and New York City during the summer of 1922. Following the shock and chaos of World War I, American society enjoyed unprecedented levels of prosperity during the "roaring" 1920s as the economy soared. At the same time, prohibition made millionaires out of bootleggers and led to an increase in organized crime. This love story is about Jay Gatsby, a poor army officer who falls for Daisy who marries a rich man while Jay is overseas. After the war, Jay becomes a multi-millionaire focusing on making money, throwing parties and enticing Daisy to return to his life.
This meeting of the book club will be Wednesday, June 12. The Alumni Book Club meets the second Wednesday of every month at 10 a.m. in the Office of Alumni Services located at Alumni Hall. Beverages and snacks will be provided. To join us or for more information, please contact the Office of Alumni Services at (904) 620-4723.
