Women's History Month 2012

The 2012 Women's History Month Luncheon & Awards Presentation was attended by seven Susan B. Anthony Award winners, including (left to right): Christine Rasche, 1995 award recipient; Tes Tuason, 2011; Dale Clifford, 2010; Idania (Ida) Gropper, 2012; Annabel Brooks, 2008; Terry DiNuzzo, 2001; and Sharon Wilburn, 2002. 

Every spring, the University of North Florida Women's Center presents the Susan B. Anthony Award to an individual within the campus community who actively promotes women's growth at UNF, provides a positive role model for women on campus, works to improve the position of women at UNF through advocacy and education, and exhibits qualities of leadership on campus. Students, faculty and staff of UNF are eligible for the award. 

Musical entertainment for the 2012 Women’s History Month Luncheon & Awards Presentation was provided by the UNF student group Rena J. Experience.  

Women’s Center Director Sheila Spivey (left) applauded the 2012 Susan B. Anthony Award recipient, Idania (Ida) Rojas Gropper (center), director of UNF's Professional Development and Training. Tess Tuason (right), 2011 Susan B. Anthony award recipient, presented the award. 

Ida Gropper received several nominations from colleagues for the 2012 Susan B. Anthony Award. They used words such as “professional leadership,” “mentor,” “extraordinary role model,” “coach,” “instrumental,” and “unwavering strength” in describing her commitment to creating better opportunities for women at the University and the community at large.  

Volunteer and victim advocate Kathy Ferrell (seated) also received the Student Leadership & Service Award. 

Caitlin Nolen (right), student and Women’s Center victim advocate, received the Student Leadership & Service Award. She was joined at the table by Jenny Kelly (left), student and Women’s Center victim advocate, and Stephanie Bartley, student and Women’s Center volunteer. 

Christa Merix (standing) received the 2012 Student Leadership & Service Award. 

Kathryn Bouziane, philanthropy chair for Alpha Chi Omega, read the Women’s History Month proclamation.
