From Madrid, we drove north through the Sierra de Guadarrama.

The archeological site at Termes (Sp. Tiermes) consists of massive rock formations that were carved and modified by various peoples.

Atapuerca is a Homo erectus site. We had the best bocadillos of the trip in the town, which can be seen in the background.
Segovia is the site of an impressive Roman acueducto (aquaduct); the marker clebrates the connection between Segovia and Rome with a representation of Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome. A bit of the aquaduct is visible in the background.
The castle at Segovia, said to be Disney's model for Snow White's castle.
