Short Bio

Karthikeyan Umapathy is currently working as Associate Professor at the School of Computing, University of North Florida. He received his PhD in Information Sciences and Technology from the Pennsylvania State University. His research interests center on designing and developing complex information systems, analyzing web service standards, and empirically investigating IT standardization processes. He uses service learning to provide real-world software development experience for students by identifying projects from Non-Profit and Small-business organizations. He works closely with local software development companies to engage them within his courses. He creates wide variety of opportunities within and outside of the curriculum to help students gain technical expertise and experience on providing professional service.

He provides technology consultancy services for small businesses, startup companies, and non-profit organizations. He has expertise on mobile and web application development. He provides consulting on technology planning, business plan, lean startup methodology, product development, and market testing.

2016 Data and Technology Experience

The Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida is organizing the Data and Technology Experience Summit to be held on October 25th, 2016 at the Jessie Ball duPont Center in Downtown Jacksonville, FL.

At this event, nonprofits can gain understanding on how to collect right data and use right technologies. I am one of the advisory member for the event.
