FirstSearch Basic Search Results

Once a topic is submitted, FirstSearch responds with a listing of articles that contain the search terms. If a search is entered as a basic keyword search, the search terms can appear at any place in the article description. More specific results can be gathered by limiting the search to title words or by using the "Advanced" search mode.

The listing above reveals that the keyword search on "hip hop" produced a total of 118 candidate items. Even though ECO does have full text articles online, not all articles indexed in the database are available in full text. Those that are available will have links to the PDF (Adobe Acrobat) versions of the articles. Look for the "View Full Text in PDF format" link in the results list immediately following the article information or in the abstract screen near the top of the article information.

The database also indicates if the print copy of the article is available in the UNF library's periodicals collection. If it is available, immediately following the article description will be a caption labeled "UNIV OF N FLORIDA, CARPENTER L."
