Department of PhilosophyResearchBuchwalter’s main research interests are in social, political, and legal philosophy, with special emphasis on the work and perspective of G.W.F. Hegel. Currently on leave from his teaching and administrative duties, he is completing two books: a monograph on Hegel’s political philosophy, which addresses Hegel’s unique status as a theoretician of social and political modernity, with particular reference to the manner in which his thought contributes to elucidating issues of concern today; and a collection of authored essays that compares and contrasts Hegel’s thought on diverse topics with a range of other seminal thinkers. His current writing focuses on two topics: globalization and the relationship of religion and politics. |
